Dunlawton Sugar Plantation Botanical Gardens – Port Orange

This sounded like a really cool garden made on the ruins of a 12 acre sugar plantation from the 1830s.  The plantation was burned during a Seminole Indian uprising.

In the 1940s this garden area was a theme park.  It was called Bongoland and life size dinosaur statues remain from that era in the tropical gardens.

There weren’t as many blooms as I had hoped for but we enjoyed the historical display of the sugar plantation equipment, and we had fun  searching for the old dinosaurs.
